The Melbourne Aquarium is part of the Oceanis Australia group, which is the largest aquarium owner and operator in the world.  Craig Thorburn was the curator of Melbourne Aquarium throughout construction, commissioning and for the first 2 years of operation.  Since 2002, Thorburn Consultants has been a consultant to the Oceanis group in areas of water quality, exhibit development and animal health.

 

Melbourne Aquarium has recently undergone some major redevelopment, as part of a regional project that is transforming the West end of Melbourne's CBD.  Thorburn Consultants have been heavily involved in the design and development work, including the extensive new penguin enclosure and the ancillary buildings of the aquarium.
